GESTI – a trilogy
15. June 2023 @ 19:00
The trilogy GESTI (ital. gestures) is based on the work of the same name by Luciano Berio for alto blockflöte solo (1966). Between the flutist Mirjam-Luise Münzel and the dancer Imola Nagy an intensive dialogue performance develops, which both artists develop hand in hand. The musical gestures of the piece are given a physical level of expression through the choreography’s intense engagement with the notation and structures of this work. The dancer becomes the second self of the musician and vice versa. The piece plays with the feeling of alienation and falling apart: the individual is so alienated from his or her inner feeling that it can no longer articulate itself clearly and despairs. GESTI is framed by dance movements by J. S. Bach, improvisational transitional moments connect the elements – a triology emerges.
