soundance festival berlin
June 15-18, 2023
The seventh soundance festival berlin from June 15-18, 2023 at DOCK11 celebrates fine nuances, unexpected turns and magical moments in the here and now of dance and live music over four evenings. Musical gestures meet choreography, structures of notation connect dance and music, the unfamiliar becomes audible, surprising landscapes open up in the sound of the voice.
The detailed program will be published in April 2023.
The soundance festival berlin 2023 is a project of b.arts.u - berlin arts united and is supported by co-production funds from DOCK ART.
DOCK ART is funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Europe.
Our new pilot format soundance expanded in dialogue with international Berlin dancers/choreographers focuses on their artistic collaboration with musicians in their own choreographic works.
On May 12/13, soundance expanded will accompany the Berlin premiere of dancer/choreographer Nitsan Margaliot's duo performance Foreland - Bach and Britten together with a cellist at St. Matthew's Church.

The soundance festival berlin was founded in 2017 and takes place annually. It presents joint projects by dancers, choreographers, musicians and composers from the Berlin independent scene and invites international guest artists. As a stimulus for dialogue between the various disciplines, the festival presents a broad spectrum of artistic styles, from contemporary dance to real-time music, from Post Butoh to New Jazz and improvisation - analog and electronic. Across generations, diverse works and formats between sound and movement will be experienced by the audience in the theater and in the urban space.
