SUITE CUBIC
Bach für Barockcello, Beatbox und Tanz
Based on the principle that “music equals movement, equals noise”, the three artists are developing a work for baroque cello, beatbox and dance using material from the first two cello suites by J. S. Bach. As if in a virtual space built from sound and movement, streams and formations emerge; patterns, shades, characters of all kinds come to life. What is essential here is that all three appear as equal instruments in one composition, a trio which gives the polyphony of Bach’s compositions a completely new appearance. What would Bach be like as a performance artist today?
The SUITE CUBIC was created as the fourth individual work in the ImPuls der Suite series, founded in 2015 by baroque cellist Julia Kursawe, in collaboration with German beatbox champion and runner-up Daniel Mandolini and multiple dance and choreography award winner Yui Kawaguchi.
